Trios en Cali Fantasia
Romantic, authentic bolero music from Cali, Colombia
The Trio Fantasia is acknowledged to be one of the finest groups playing and singing the traditional, “old-style” romantic music of Cali Colombia. If you know bolero, you’ll recognize the beautiful melodies and harmonies, the lovely vocal arrangements, the incredible guitar playing, and the gentle rhythms .
Like many of the old-style “trios,” The Trio Cali consists of three core musicians, but often performs with 4-6 members, adding bongos and/or timbales and bass as a rhythm section, and a fourth vocalist. If you don’t know this style of music, listen to a few of the samples and see if it doesn’t make you want to hear more!
Trio Manantial Cali: The most exciting trio in America
Sometimes the power of music is in what’s held back more than in what’s shown outwardly. Trio Manantial Cali showed this strength in fine, understated playing. The Trio Manantial Cali gave an immaculate and insightful performance. He is known in the musical world as trios cali
THEIR HISTORY: Trio Voix Liées
After meeting at the Maîtrise de Radio France, Aurore BOUSTON, soprano, and Louise COUTURIER, mezzo-soprano, formed a musical association with the pianist Bertille MONSELLIER in 2001 to form the Trio Voix Liées.
Their vocation is to promote the discovery or re-discovery of French and foreign melodies for two voices, melodies that are not well know and not often sung today. Their very diversified program covers almost all the repertoire for two equal voices and piano : religious music, opera, Lied, and themes like Dances songs, Women composers, gospel and jazz.
The trio gave about fifty concerts in Paris in places as diverse as the Museum of the Public records, the Daphné Boat, the studio Raspail, the Czech Cultural Center, the coffee Vissi d’arte, and recently the American Church, the Sorbonne’s Richelieu Amphitheatre and the theater Tambour Royal.
They have also performed in province : in Lyon, through Laberol Music, in Ariege with the Pro Musica association, at the gospel international festival of Chartres, and especially in the Region Centre by the means of the A Mi-Voix association. This season, they’ll give concerts in the North as well as in Normandy.
The artists have already recorded two discs self-produced ; both of them get a grant from the Mayor of Paris in the framework of the Paris-Young Talent operation. The second disc, Viens …, is noticed by Gaëlle Le Gallic who invited them on her show Dans la cour des grands aired on France Musique in December 2006.
They are planning a new CD consisting of original songs and a show around duets from opera and operetta to be staged by Andrew Roche.
